Avon sporting meet every thursday at stratford town football club @ 8.30pm

A rough explanantion of what motocross entails is racing a specialised bike around a field(s), overcoming either man-made or natural obstacles. Racing can last anyhting from 10 minutes up to 45 minutes, and sometimes more. Anything from a couple of riders up to 36 all start from the same start line at the same time. The aim is pretty basic: to get around the course until the time expires and to be the first rider to reach the end of the race and be greeted with the chequered flag before all of your fellow competitors.

There are many different organisations involved in motocross racing with the classification for youth riders being separated into age groups whereas in the adult ranks it is classified by ability. The decision of what bike to ride will be dealt with later in this section. No matter what sex or age you are you can race motocross. Racing takes place all over the UK and in all weathers, all year round if you wish.

The aim of the following sections is to give you an insight into what is needed to get started in motocross. Once you have read the basic requirements the best advice is to get along to a local meeting and ask questions to those people running the meeting. If you would like to add anything to this section that would benefit others then please get in touch with us.
